About the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX PCB

DSP-Guitar-MultiFX is an open source NXP PCB design by MahmoudBasio, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 133.6 × 112.9 mm, with 42 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy4.0_AudioShield_REVD, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the TL072. By type, the board carries 16 connectors, 13 resistors, 10 capacitors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the audio and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-source modular real-time embedded DSP guitar multi-effects platform based on Teensy 4.1, with custom hardware, C++ firmware, and real-time control.

An open-source modular real-time embedded DSP platform for guitar multi-effects, built around the Teensy 4.1.

The project combines real-time audio processing, embedded firmware, custom electronics, user-interface hardware, PCB design, and mechanical design into a complete standalone multi-effects platform.

DSP Guitar MultiFX was developed as an open and extensible platform for implementing real-time audio effects on embedded hardware.

DSP-Guitar-MultiFX: common questions

What microcontroller does the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX use?

The DSP-Guitar-MultiFX is built around the Teensy4.0_AudioShield_REVD, from the NXP family.

How big is the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX PCB?

The DSP-Guitar-MultiFX measures 133.6 × 112.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX?

42 components, from 30 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX design files?

From the MahmoudBasio/DSP-Guitar-MultiFX repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which MahmoudBasio chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the DSP-Guitar-MultiFX without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
