About the Kiwi board
Kiwi board is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by mannireis, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 268.7 × 76.2 mm, with 113 components from 16 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-3.3_SOT223 and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 43 switches, 42 diodes, 16 capacitors, 6 resistors, 3 ICs and 2 connectors.
It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.
From the project
a steno40% keyboard
The Kiwi Board is a 42-key split keyboard designed for stenographic input. It features a 3×6 column-staggered layout with 3 thumb keys per side. The design is based on the Polyglot keyboard and includes an integrated RP2040 microcontroller.
This project started after I discovered steno and wanted to build a keyboard tailored for learning and experimenting with chorded input.

Kiwi board: common questions
What microcontroller does the Kiwi board use?
The Kiwi board is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the Kiwi board?
The Kiwi board measures 268.7 × 76.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Kiwi board?
113 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Kiwi board design files?
From the mannireis/kiwi-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Kiwi board design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which mannireis chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Kiwi board without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
