About the WPT RX PCB

WPT RX is an open source PCB design by mark-belbin, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 100 × 45 mm, with 51 components from 31 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the INA240A1D and LM2937IMP-3.3. By type, the board carries 14 resistors, 13 capacitors, 8 connectors, 8 test points, 5 diodes and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A simple two-board wireless power system that can transmit up to 100W at close distances. Originally designed as a small part of a subsea resident autonomous underwater vehicle senior design project. Included are schematics, PCB design files, LTspice simulations, and embedded code.

However, since a lot of work was already being placed into research and simulation anyways, it was decided to try and create a resonant system. Using capactiors, resonant circuits can be created with the inductive transmitter and reciever coils, increasing efficiency accross the wireless link. This is the de facto inductive wireless power transfer method used in industry, and it turned out to be simpler than thought. The topology chosen is called "series-series" resonant inductive wireless power transfer, which means that the compensating capacitors are placed in series with both the transmit…

WPT RX: common questions

How big is the WPT RX PCB?

The WPT RX measures 100 × 45 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WPT RX?

51 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WPT RX design files?

From the mark-belbin/simple-wireless-power repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WPT RX design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which mark-belbin chose for the repository.
