About the Kneippometer PCB

Kneippometer is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by MartinFeichtinger, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 160 × 100 mm, with 135 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega16A-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the ULN2003A, MAX4238ASA and TC1017-xCT. By type, the board carries 74 transistors, 28 resistors, 12 capacitors, 6 connectors, 5 ICs and 5 inductors.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a project to build an self-sufficient temperatur display for the local kneipp bath

The display consists of four 7-segment flip-disk indicators, chosen specifically to minimize power consumption. These indicators only require energy during the flipping process, ensuring efficient operation.

Kneippometer: common questions

What microcontroller does the Kneippometer use?

The Kneippometer is built around the ATmega16A-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Kneippometer PCB?

The Kneippometer measures 160 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Kneippometer?

135 components, from 38 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Kneippometer design files?

From the MartinFeichtinger/kneippometer repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Kneippometer design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MartinFeichtinger. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Kneippometer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
