About the PCB ESP32

PCB ESP32 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by maticas-tech-sas, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 35.4 × 70.6 mm, with 42 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RF_MODULE_ESP32-S3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the BEE-DATA-LOGGER-LIBRARY_RT9080-33GJ5, TIMER_RTC_DS3231MZ and BEE-DATA-LOGGER-LIBRARY_MCP73831/2. By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 9 capacitors, 7 connectors, 5 ICs, 3 switches and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

Want to send measurements back to a server through HTTP or MQTT? This is about it along with the PCB design, 3D box and support for data storage with maticas API

Basically we took the schematics they shared and a bit of the layout we get from their youtube video and we made our own version of the datalogger, sharing the source files from kiCad to make it easier for others to replicate the project.

This PCB replica is undergoing testing and will be updated as soon as we have more information.

Huge thanks to the Bee-Data-Logger project for sharing their work, it was a great inspiration for us, and a huge help to get started with our own datalogger project. Go check their project out! Give them a star️ ⭐️⭐️⭐!

PCB ESP32: common questions

What microcontroller does the PCB ESP32 use?

The PCB ESP32 is built around the RF_MODULE_ESP32-S3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PCB ESP32?

The PCB ESP32 measures 35.4 × 70.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PCB ESP32?

42 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PCB ESP32 design files?

From the maticas-tech-sas/maticas-data-logger repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PCB ESP32 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with maticas-tech-sas. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the PCB ESP32 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
