About the Radio Bottom PCB

Radio Bottom is an open source PCB design by mattronix, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30 × 64 mm, with 12 components from 12 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the INA226. By type, the board carries 6 connectors, 2 resistors, 1 IC, 1 transistor, 1 diode and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the rf & radio and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Interface board on the radio side of the PRC‑152A reproduction. It does battery voltage/current/power monitoring (INA226 + shunt) and switches the load, mating to Battery Top through spring‑loaded pogo‑pin contacts.

The Pogo Radio Bottom 6MM targets here receive the Pogo Battery 7MM contacts from Battery Top. The INA226 + 5 mΩ shunt measure battery current/voltage and report over the data line.

Radio Bottom: common questions

How big is the Radio Bottom PCB?

The Radio Bottom measures 30 × 64 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Radio Bottom?

12 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Radio Bottom design files?

From the mattronix/battery-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Radio Bottom design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which mattronix chose for the repository.
