About the PowerMonitorMK3 PCB

PowerMonitorMK3 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by MAWoodMain, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 125 × 41 mm, with 86 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROVER, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AZ1117-3.3, ADUM6000, ADUM4152BRIZ and ADE9153A. By type, the board carries 40 capacitors, 15 resistors, 10 test points, 8 connectors, 6 ICs and 4 diodes.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

Third version high resolution high speed AC power monitor

- [ ] #1 Copper pour sticks out of board edge - [ ] #2 U2's Pin 5 shorted to GND should be NC - [ ] #3 Reserved pins being used on JP5, JP6 & JP7 - [ ] Silkscreen is uninformative - [ ] Power LEDs on all rails is annoying and not very useful after the initial power on test - [ ] No LED to blink from the ESP? - [ ] No test points on the mains side (was intentional because GND is 240Vac over there :grimacing:) - [ ] Add CH340G or equivilent USB to UART with auto GPIO0 & RST for toolless development

PowerMonitorMK3: common questions

What microcontroller does the PowerMonitorMK3 use?

The PowerMonitorMK3 is built around the ESP32-WROVER, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PowerMonitorMK3 PCB?

The PowerMonitorMK3 measures 125 × 41 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PowerMonitorMK3?

86 components, from 42 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PowerMonitorMK3 design files?

From the MAWoodMain/PowerMonitorMK3 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PowerMonitorMK3 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MAWoodMain. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the PowerMonitorMK3 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
