About the PlantWatering PCB

PlantWatering is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Meltwin, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80.3 × 59.4 mm, with 26 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 12 connectors, 7 diodes, 6 resistors and 1 IC.

From the project

Automated plant watering system

This project consist of making an automated watering system for my plants. It works with an ESP-32 board that controls a 5V pump. This repository contains:

- The electrical schematic (made in KiCAD) that can be found in the KiCAD folder, - The code for the ESP-32 board in the plantwatering` folder,

The project was tested and made on a ESP-WROOM-32 board.

PlantWatering: common questions

What microcontroller does the PlantWatering use?

The PlantWatering is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the PlantWatering PCB?

The PlantWatering measures 80.3 × 59.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PlantWatering?

26 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PlantWatering design files?

From the Meltwin/PlantWatering repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PlantWatering design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Meltwin chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PlantWatering without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
