About the Esp32-fan controller PCB

Esp32-fan controller is an open source ESP32 PCB design by merlindorin, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85 × 155 mm, with 38 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-DEVKITC, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 10 connectors, 9 capacitors, 9 resistors, 4 fuses, 3 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

A small KiCad board to keep my home server cabinet cool. 4 PWM fans, 4 temperature probes, one ESP32.

My home servers live in a small cabinet, hidden inside a piece of furniture I built around them. It is a credenza with a stone top, a perforated metal grille set into that top so the warm air can escape upward, and cane mesh side panels so fresh air can come in from below.

Esp32-fan controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp32-fan controller use?

The Esp32-fan controller is built around the ESP32-DEVKITC, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp32-fan controller PCB?

The Esp32-fan controller measures 85 × 155 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp32-fan controller?

38 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp32-fan controller design files?

From the merlindorin/esp32-fan-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp32-fan controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which merlindorin chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Esp32-fan controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
