About the Nile volga-65 PCB

Nile volga-65 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by MinaMalty, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a board, with 137 components from 70 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 68 switches, 68 diodes and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards and retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

A compact retro multilingual 65% mechanical keyboard

Nile–Volga 65 is a compact wired 65% mechanical keyboard designed for multilingual typing, programming, schoolwork, and portable use with a laptop stand.

I regularly type using English, Arabic, and Russian keyboard layouts. I already touch-type the English alphabet, but I need visible Arabic and Russian legends.

- Russian in the upper-left - Arabic in the upper-right - English numbers and programming punctuation centered below - No printed English alphabet letters

Nile volga-65: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nile volga-65 use?

The Nile volga-65 is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How many components are on the Nile volga-65?

137 components, from 70 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nile volga-65 design files?

From the MinaMalty/nile-volga-65 repository on GitHub, which has the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nile volga-65 design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Nile volga-65 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
