About the Top board

Top board is an open source NXP PCB design by mod-audio, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 170 × 66.6 mm, with 125 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the LPC1759FBD80, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the NCP1117DT50G, NCP1117DT33G, MCP6001 and PCA9685. By type, the board carries 47 resistors, 42 capacitors, 9 diodes, 7 connectors, 5 ICs and 3 transistors.

From the project

Hardware project of MOD Duo

This repository contains the schematics and PCB design files for the MOD Duo hardware (http://moddevices.com/).

These files were created and can be improved with KiCAD, a free software Electronics CAD which is available at http://www.kicad.org/

This project should work with last revision of KiCad libraries and footprints available at https://github.com/KiCad/

Top board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Top board use?

The Top board is built around the LPC1759FBD80, from the NXP family.

How big is the Top board?

The Top board measures 170 × 66.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Top board?

125 components, from 32 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Top board design files?

From the mod-audio/mod-hw-duo repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Top board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mod-audio. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Top board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
