About the Game pad- PCB

Game pad- is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by MohamedHassanExp, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 108.6 × 46 mm, with 20 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA16U2-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the COM-09032 and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 5 switches, 4 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 resistors, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

From the project

Atmega 16u2 based gamepad

A custom-designed printed circuit board (PCB) for a gamepad based on the ATmega16u2 microcontroller. This repository includes the full schematic capture, layout, and manufacturing-ready fabrication files.

This project contains the complete hardware design files for a custom USB gamepad. Utilizing the ATmega16u2, the board is designed to handle button inputs and communicate with a host PC or console as a standard USB Human Interface Device (HID).

Game pad-: common questions

What microcontroller does the Game pad- use?

The Game pad- is built around the ATMEGA16U2-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Game pad- PCB?

The Game pad- measures 108.6 × 46 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Game pad-?

20 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Game pad- design files?

From the MohamedHassanExp/game-pad- repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Game pad- design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which MohamedHassanExp chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Game pad- without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
