Autonomous underwater sound velocity profiler — ESP32-S3, Valeport miniSVS, Bar30, 4-layer PCB
Projet #4018 — Sound Velocity Reel · Iter Systems · La Motte-Servolex, France
- Overview - Hardware - Firmware v3.4 - Hardware Debugging - Repository Structure - Documentation - Author
SV-Profiler builds depth-indexed sound velocity profiles in underwater environments. Unlike point measurement tools that give a single reading, the system continuously pairs sound velocity samples from a Valeport miniSVS sensor with depth readings from a Bar30 pressure sensor as the device descends or ascends through the water column.

SV-Profiler: common questions
What microcontroller does the SV-Profiler use?
The SV-Profiler is built around the XIAO-ESP32-S3 (SKU 113991054), from the ESP32 family.
How big is the SV-Profiler PCB?
The SV-Profiler measures 85 × 27 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the SV-Profiler?
53 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the SV-Profiler design files?
From the mostapha73-rgb/SV-Profiler repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the SV-Profiler design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mostapha73-rgb. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the SV-Profiler without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
