About the N1kdo band selector PCB

N1kdo band selector is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by n1kdo, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 105.5 × 77.7 mm, with 58 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PicoW, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the L7805. By type, the board carries 12 test points, 11 resistors, 10 diodes, 10 capacitors, 7 inductors and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the rf & radio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

IOT BandSelector (also known as a Band Decoder) works with Antenna Switch Controller to perform automated antenna selection on band change

This project is intended to operate a remote antenna switch.

How is it different from commercial-off-the-shelf solutions? Direct interface with Elecraft 15-Pin accessory interface. It reads BCD band data using the Elecraft Y-cable or a device like a Y-box. provides transmit inhibit and power-on sense/control. it's not designed for other radios. Tested on Elecraft only. It should work with other radios that use similar BCD active low band signaling. Wireless! It runs over Wi-Fi, connect the band selector to the 15-pin accessory connector, and supply DC to the coaxial power jack. Automatic TX…

N1kdo band selector: common questions

What microcontroller does the N1kdo band selector use?

The N1kdo band selector is built around the PicoW, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the N1kdo band selector PCB?

The N1kdo band selector measures 105.5 × 77.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the N1kdo band selector?

58 components, from 22 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the N1kdo band selector design files?

From the n1kdo/BandSelector repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the N1kdo band selector design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which n1kdo chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the N1kdo band selector without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
