About the Omnixie panel v1 PCB

Omnixie panel v1 is an open source RISC-V PCB design by NA-varez, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 35.6 × 33 mm, with 49 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the CH32V003F4U6, from the RISC-V family. Other key parts include the PI4IOE5V6416ZDEX and XC6206P332MR. By type, the board carries 13 transistors, 13 resistors, 6 test points, 5 connectors, 5 capacitors and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Nixie driver board to enable easy inclusion of a Nixie tube into projects. One common driver board to support a wide range of Nixie Indicator Tubes

Initial sketches, ideas, original project intent was just a nixie clock. But I hated the feeling of desigingn a nixie clock with the nixie driver circuitry as single use for just a clock, when really you should be able to drive a nixie tube anywehere you'd like for displaying numbers. So that's where this inspiration came from

ALSO cnlohr's cnixxie. Particularly his MCU of choice ch32v003 and the accompanying library ch32v003fun and rv003usb inspired the digitally controlled flyback he uses in his design. Really in hopes of learning some skills he demonstrated in his youtube vide.

Omnixie panel v1: common questions

What microcontroller does the Omnixie panel v1 use?

The Omnixie panel v1 is built around the CH32V003F4U6, from the RISC-V family.

How big is the Omnixie panel v1 PCB?

The Omnixie panel v1 measures 35.6 × 33 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 2.923 mm thick.

How many components are on the Omnixie panel v1?

49 components, from 25 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Omnixie panel v1 design files?

From the NA-varez/OMNIXIE repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Omnixie panel v1 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which NA-varez chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Omnixie panel v1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RISC-V firmware against it before you order a PCB.
