About the Driver PCB

Driver is an open source PCB design by nathdobson, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 98 × 34 mm, with 30 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the GR2803LSS24ARCQ, 74HC595D,118, MT3151AT-EN and SN74HC165DR(LX). By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 6 capacitors, 5 ICs and 4 connectors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

This display shows a sequence of symbols in individual 3d-printed modules. Each module contains a drum with flaps displaying individual symbols. This is similar to a rolodex, except each symbol is split across the front of one flap and the back of another flap. A motor rotates the drum to change from one symbol to another.

Driver: common questions

How big is the Driver PCB?

The Driver measures 98 × 34 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Driver?

30 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Driver design files?

From the nathdobson/flappy repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Driver design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which nathdobson chose for the repository.
