Design Resources for the Riotee Module

The Riotee Module is a stamp-sized unit (27.2mm by 15.2mm) that can be soldered onto a user's \ac{pcb} with additional circuitry like sensors or harvesters to create deployment-ready battery-free devices quickly. It integrates harvesting circuitry, two MCUs, an RTC, a PCB antenna, and an LED on a compact 4-layer PCB enclosed in a metal RF shield. The module features breadboard-compatible castellated holes exposing essential signals, including 11 GPIO, two of which can also function as analog inputs. Four additional signals on the back of the module are available when reflow-soldered onto a…

Riotee Module: common questions

What microcontroller does the Riotee Module use?

The Riotee Module is built around the NRF52833-CJAA, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Riotee Module?

The Riotee Module measures 15.2 × 27.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.996 mm thick.

How many components are on the Riotee Module?

87 components, from 41 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Riotee Module design files?

From the NessieCircuits/Riotee_Module repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Riotee Module design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which NessieCircuits chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Riotee Module without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
