About the Ethersweep PCB

Ethersweep is an open source STM32 PCB design by Neumi, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 79 × 38 mm, with 97 components from 51 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103C8TX, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the DD4012SA, AS5600, W5500 and TMC2209-LA. By type, the board carries 36 capacitors, 35 resistors, 11 connectors, 6 diodes, 5 ICs and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open Source, easy to use Ethernet connected stepper motor controller. Built in FreeCAD, KiCAD and Arduino.

This version is pretty much the same as the TMC2209 version, but with the mentioned bugs fixed. It is currently still in development and on the way to production and testing (March 2023).

Ethersweep: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ethersweep use?

The Ethersweep is built around the STM32F103C8TX, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Ethersweep PCB?

The Ethersweep measures 79 × 38 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ethersweep?

97 components, from 51 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ethersweep design files?

From the Neumi/ethersweep repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ethersweep design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Neumi chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ethersweep without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
