About the Glasses-V.01 PCB

Glasses-V.01 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by nicka06, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 29.2 × 90.2 mm, with 31 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the ESD protection, MCP73831T-2ACI/OT, Amplifier, Manual Switch and Buck Converter. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 7 resistors, 5 ICs, 2 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the audio, iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

This repo shows a pair of "AI" glasses that use a microphone, speaker, and microcontroller to allow users to have siri at all times (when on wifi). They'll be able to ask questions, complete tasks, and be more efficient with these glasses. While these glasses have only audio, it is a first step towareds glasses with cameras and more. This is my personal end goal for this project. Just a stepping stone towards more advance glasses work. (Hence the V0.1 repo name). If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Glasses-V.01: common questions

What microcontroller does the Glasses-V.01 use?

The Glasses-V.01 is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Glasses-V.01 PCB?

The Glasses-V.01 measures 29.2 × 90.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Glasses-V.01?

31 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Glasses-V.01 design files?

From the nicka06/Glasses-V.01 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Glasses-V.01 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with nicka06. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Glasses-V.01 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
