About the OVERBoard PCB

OVERBoard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Nikhil-Krishnamurthy, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 382.5 × 130.5 mm, with 273 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 161 diodes, 78 switches, 12 capacitors, 11 resistors, 4 connectors and 2 modules.

It belongs with the keyboards, displays & leds and wearables designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a keyboard that has a screen, heart rate sensor, 3 encoder knobs, and 2 pi picos. I aim to use a dual processor, with one use qmk to run, and the other running a custom c program that interfaces with both the pc and the other pi pico.

OVERBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the OVERBoard use?

The OVERBoard is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the OVERBoard PCB?

The OVERBoard measures 382.5 × 130.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the OVERBoard?

273 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the OVERBoard design files?

From the Nikhil-Krishnamurthy/OVERBoard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the OVERBoard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Nikhil-Krishnamurthy. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the OVERBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
