About the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout
ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Nisarg-Vyas, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 87.6 × 70 mm, with 21 components from 13 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32 Rail1L, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 6 capacitors, 5 resistors, 3 diodes, 2 connectors and 1 IC.
It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.
From the project
A custom ESP32 prototyping and breakout PCB designed for convenient GPIO, power, and ground access across multiple ESP32 development-board form factors.
A custom PCB designed to make ESP32 prototyping easier, faster, and more convenient than working directly on a breadboard or perfboard.
When working with ESP32 development boards, the physical form factor can make breadboard prototyping inconvenient. In particular, larger ESP32 boards can occupy a large portion of a breadboard and restrict convenient access to the pins on both sides.

ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout: common questions
What microcontroller does the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout use?
The ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout is built around the ESP32 Rail1L, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout?
The ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout measures 87.6 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout?
21 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout design files?
From the Nisarg-Vyas/ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Nisarg-Vyas chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the ESP32-Prototyping-Breakout without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
