Its main chip is the STM32WB5MMGH6TR, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the NPM1300-QEAA-R7, TROPIC01, USBLC6-2SC6, TPS62840DLCR and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 28 capacitors, 8 resistors, 6 ICs, 4 connectors, 3 diodes and 3 inductors.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open hardware for the Nocta vault: an offline password manager with a 2.7 inch e-ink screen. KiCad schematic, board layout, gerbers and BOM. CERN-OHL-S v2.

Open hardware for the Nocta vault: an offline password and credential manager with a 2.7 inch e-ink screen, optional Bluetooth LE, and no cloud service behind it.

This repository is the design, not a product. The device is a prototype, it is not for sale, and there is no ship date.

- Firmware. Still being written. It will be published when it is worth reading, and the licence for it is not decided. - The enclosure. No named enclosure model is published yet. - Photographs. Coming with the next write-up.

Nocta-One-Hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nocta-One-Hardware use?

The Nocta-One-Hardware is built around the STM32WB5MMGH6TR, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Nocta-One-Hardware PCB?

The Nocta-One-Hardware measures 45 × 69 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.59 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nocta-One-Hardware?

55 components, from 44 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nocta-One-Hardware design files?

From the NoctaLabs-Sh/Nocta-One-Hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nocta-One-Hardware design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which NoctaLabs-Sh chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Nocta-One-Hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
