About the LunaiOne-Hackpad PCB

LunaiOne-Hackpad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by NotXander4211, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 81.9 mm, with 40 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 23 diodes, 15 switches, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the displays & leds and keyboards designs in this gallery.

Hey! This is my submission for the hackpad! I made this as a hackpad with shortcuts for my Arch Linux keybinds.

Hey! This is my submission for the hackpad! I made this as a hackpad with shortcuts for my Arch Linux keybinds.

The case is held together with 4 M3 Bolts. The case is made of 2 separate pieces, the top and the bottom. The models were all created in Fusion 360!

The PCB was made fully in KiCad. (DRC shows no errors, yay!)

My Hackpad uses the KMK firmware. All of the programming was done in VSCode. I made most of the keys do tasks in linux, such as moving the desktop or opening apps! I created 2 layers that are accessed based on the bottom right key being pressed or not and I have different…

LunaiOne-Hackpad: common questions

What microcontroller does the LunaiOne-Hackpad use?

The LunaiOne-Hackpad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the LunaiOne-Hackpad PCB?

The LunaiOne-Hackpad measures 100 × 81.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LunaiOne-Hackpad?

40 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LunaiOne-Hackpad design files?

From the NotXander4211/LunaiOne-Hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LunaiOne-Hackpad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with NotXander4211. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the LunaiOne-Hackpad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
