The projects/ directory will house projects that are under active and volatile development. This will include things like advanced research projects that won't make it onto the vehicle during the current season, as well as projects that are parallel to the car, like the HIL system.

Once a car-related project has matured enough, it will be moved into the vehicle/ directory, where development may continue to integrate it into the vehicle of the season.

Imu: common questions

What microcontroller does the Imu use?

The Imu is built around the ATMEGA16M1-AU-ND, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Imu PCB?

The Imu measures 45 × 45 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Imu?

48 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Imu design files?

From the olin-electric-motorsports/olin-electric-motorsports repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Imu design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with olin-electric-motorsports. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Imu without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
