About the Connector breakout

Connector breakout is an open source PCB design by oresat, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 87.2 mm, with 5 components from 4 distinct parts.

It belongs with the power & battery and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

A "flatsat" is a integration and debugging configuration of your satellite that allows you to more easily do system integration, software development, testing, and debugging. It's the "open" satellite that allows you to get at all the signals and ports.

Here's what our OreSat0 flatsat looks like -- note the cards laid out flat on the table, the power supply on the left, the ribbon cable and cards, and the small PC on the upper right (vertical wall) that interfaces everything to the interwebs.

Connector breakout: common questions

How big is the Connector breakout?

The Connector breakout measures 40 × 87.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Connector breakout?

5 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Connector breakout design files?

From the oresat/oresat-solar-simulator-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Connector breakout design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which oresat chose for the repository.
