About the Sensor board

Sensor board is an open source PCB design by oresat, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 41.1 × 32 mm, with 18 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the NE5532. By type, the board carries 6 test points, 5 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 connectors, 1 IC and 1 diode.

It belongs with the power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

Solar simulator for our 1U solar panels

The hardware repository for our solar simulator for testing OreSat 1U solar panels

The OreSat Solar Simulator is a benchtop simulator for hardware-in-the-loop testing of CubeSat solar modules. It uses LED and halogen light bulbs to emit light that simulates the sun's solar spectrum in low Earth orbit (Air Mass 0 or 'AM0').

The work for this was done as an MCECS Capstone Project from January to June of 2023 by Bendjy Faurestal, Adam Martinez, Cesar Ordaz-Coronel, and Charles Nasser. Andrew Greenberg was both representing PSAS as the Industry Sponsor and the Faculty Advisor to the students.

Sensor board: common questions

How big is the Sensor board?

The Sensor board measures 41.1 × 32 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sensor board?

18 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sensor board design files?

From the oresat/oresat-solar-simulator-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sensor board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which oresat chose for the repository.
