About the Blueprint Devboard PCB

Blueprint Devboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Owen-Herbert-Reader, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 21 × 51 mm, with 36 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP1700X-330XXTT and W25Q16JVSS. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 7 resistors, 5 connectors, 3 ICs, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

I had a lot of fun creating the schematic and routing the PCB for this project. I went with a funny alien theme because I like the art style and it was easy for me to do.

Blueprint Devboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Blueprint Devboard use?

The Blueprint Devboard is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Blueprint Devboard PCB?

The Blueprint Devboard measures 21 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Blueprint Devboard?

36 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Blueprint Devboard design files?

From the Owen-Herbert-Reader/Blueprint_Devboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Blueprint Devboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Owen-Herbert-Reader. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Blueprint Devboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
