About the HexadecipadV2 PCB

HexadecipadV2 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by pakkid, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 130 mm, with 60 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP23017_SP. By type, the board carries 28 switches, 28 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

My macro pad I designed for hack pad but it never got shipped so I decided to do more tweaks and finalise the design.

This directory contains the printed circuit board (PCB) design files for HexadecipadV2.

- KiCad 7.0 or later (recommended for full compatibility)

1. Open HexadecipadV2.kicadpro in KiCad to view and edit the design 2. Use ibom.html in the bom/ folder for assembly reference 3. For manufacturing files, see the /Production/PCB/` directory

HexadecipadV2: common questions

What microcontroller does the HexadecipadV2 use?

The HexadecipadV2 is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the HexadecipadV2 PCB?

The HexadecipadV2 measures 100 × 130 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HexadecipadV2?

60 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HexadecipadV2 design files?

From the pakkid/HexadecipadV2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HexadecipadV2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which pakkid chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HexadecipadV2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
