About the HPA300-hardware PCB

HPA300-hardware is an open source ESP32 PCB design by patmont, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 245 × 51 mm, with 61 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S2-SOLO-2, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the CD74HC238PWR, LDL1117-3.3 and TBD62783A. By type, the board carries 28 resistors, 12 diodes, 6 capacitors, 4 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

An open-hardware, ESP32-S2 replacement control board for the Honeywell HPA300 air purifier. The board preserves the original front-panel layout while adding USB-C, native USB programming, and a controller designed for the companion HPA300 firmware.

Release assets are the recommended manufacturing handoff because they are tied to a tagged revision and include SHA-256 checksums. The files under manufacturing/ are reviewable snapshots; do not mix them with source files from a different commit.

HPA300-hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the HPA300-hardware use?

The HPA300-hardware is built around the ESP32-S2-SOLO-2, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the HPA300-hardware PCB?

The HPA300-hardware measures 245 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HPA300-hardware?

61 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HPA300-hardware design files?

From the patmont/HPA300-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HPA300-hardware design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which patmont chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HPA300-hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
