About the Tmv7displaymod PCB

Tmv7displaymod is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by phastmike, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70.9 × 33.8 mm, with 14 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA8-16P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the L7805. By type, the board carries 4 connectors, 4 capacitors, 2 ICs, 1 switch and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository contains a PCB design for a solution, to the "failing LCD display problem", by OE9MKV. The implementation is based on reverse engineering some parts of the proprietary serial protocol from Kenwood.

The project uses KiCad 7 and the exported outputs are on the exports folder.

Includes schematic and PCB but you should refer to OE9MKV and PD2RLD webpages for more details, schematic, firmware, code and so on.

Tmv7displaymod: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tmv7displaymod use?

The Tmv7displaymod is built around the ATMEGA8-16P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Tmv7displaymod PCB?

The Tmv7displaymod measures 70.9 × 33.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tmv7displaymod?

14 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tmv7displaymod design files?

From the phastmike/tmv7displaymod repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tmv7displaymod design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with phastmike. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Tmv7displaymod without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
