About the Usb-Fume-Extractor PCB

Usb-Fume-Extractor is an open source PCB design by PolygonSynthesizers, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85 × 40 mm, with 25 components from 24 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the NE556 and LM2731XMF. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 4 resistors, 3 connectors, 2 ICs, 1 jumper and 1 switch.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a USB powered (5v) PWM Computer Fan Controller

This fume extractor is made with a 120 mm PWM (4pin) 12V PC Fan. You can use any 12V PC Fan as long as the power consomption doesn't exceed 500mA over 12V. It has to be a 12V fan as the power supply is converting 5V USB to 12V. 24V Fans won't work. I personally use a Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-3000 PWM and it can blow air along 6 meter of 80mm aluminium duct even at half speed.
