About the Pico power board

Pico power board is an open source PCB design by ProjectLighthouseCAU, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120 × 70 mm, with 105 components from 22 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TMP112AIDRLR, INA219AxD, K7803-500R3 and 74LVC1G125GW,125. By type, the board carries 66 resistors, 13 capacitors, 10 connectors, 9 ICs, 6 fuses and 1 diode.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository contains the schematic and PCB layout for the new Lighthouse power board that is compatible with the Pi Pico (with Wiznet W5100S or W5500) as a network controller

After looking at the SPI signal with an oscilloscope, we found out that the fast switching of voltage levels causes reflections on the end of the longer cables. These reflections interfere with each other constructively and cause ringing (voltage swings around the desired voltage at a rising/falling edge) and therefore over-/undershoot (voltage goes above/below the GPIO pins rated maximum/minimum voltage). While the SPI communication works and nothing broke yet, this over-/undervoltage could damage the GPIO pins or the whole microcontroller (both RP2040 and ATtiny841) in the long run. To fix…
