About the Password PCB

Password is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by PurkkaKoodari, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 58 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the WAVGAT_CAN and HT1632C-52LQFP. By type, the board carries 24 diodes, 18 resistors, 11 switches, 2 ICs, 1 module and 1 connector.

From the project

Fully playable hardware implementation of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. Mirror of https://gitlab.com/PurkkaKoodari/ktane-hw

This project is a hardware reimplementation of the game [Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes][ktane]. The game runs fully on the physical device and is controlled using a web interface over Wi-Fi. The project will be documented in this repository – expect the links below to be broken for the near future.

The hardware is built around a Raspberry Pi Zero W, which runs the main controller software, attached to a backplane that provides power, connectivity and audio. The game's modules are built as independent devices, usually based on an Arduino Nano, which connect to the backplane using…

Password: common questions

What microcontroller does the Password use?

The Password is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Password PCB?

The Password measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Password?

58 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Password design files?

From the PurkkaKoodari/ktane-hw repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Password design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which PurkkaKoodari chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Password without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
