About the LED-Bar-Controller PCB

LED-Bar-Controller is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Qeteshpony, published on GitHub under the BSD-2-Clause license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 46 × 44 mm, with 29 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 12 resistors, 5 capacitors, 4 switches, 3 connectors, 2 ICs and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

Small controller for 2-color LED Bars

This controller replaces the cable bound remote control for a 2-Color USB LED bar and includes an ESP32-WROOM-32 for connecting it to home automation

The board also features a USB-C port for power, a 3-Pin PH2.0 plug for connecting the LED bar and four buttons to control power, brightness and light-temperature.

All parts on the top side are selected from the JLCPCB basic library for cheap production. The ESP module and the connectors need manual soldering on the bottom side unless two-sided pcb assembly is used.

LED-Bar-Controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the LED-Bar-Controller use?

The LED-Bar-Controller is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the LED-Bar-Controller PCB?

The LED-Bar-Controller measures 46 × 44 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LED-Bar-Controller?

29 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LED-Bar-Controller design files?

From the Qeteshpony/LED-Bar-Controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LED-Bar-Controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-2-Clause license, which Qeteshpony chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the LED-Bar-Controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
