About the ESP12FPSU PCB

ESP12FPSU is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by R8bert, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 100 mm, with 55 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP-12F(ESP8266MOD), from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the MP2451DT-LF-Z, DS18B20 and XT60. By type, the board carries 20 resistors, 12 capacitors, 8 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A smart, programmable lab power supply controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller. This project combines hardware design and firmware development to provide precise, remote control over voltage and current using a custom-designed PCB.

A smart, programmable lab power supply controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller. This project combines hardware design and firmware development to provide precise, remote control over voltage and current using a custom-designed PCB.

This project was created to make a standard lab power supply smarter and easier to use. By adding an ESP32 and a custom interface board, I was able to control voltage, current, and safety features remotely — either through a web dashboard, serial commands, or a mobile app.

ESP12FPSU: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP12FPSU use?

The ESP12FPSU is built around the ESP-12F(ESP8266MOD), from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the ESP12FPSU PCB?

The ESP12FPSU measures 80 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP12FPSU?

55 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP12FPSU design files?

From the R8bert/esp32-psu repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP12FPSU design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with R8bert. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ESP12FPSU without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
