About the Wall PCB

Wall is an open source RISC-V PCB design by rmingon, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 39 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the CH32V003FxPx, from the RISC-V family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 26 diodes, 4 connectors, 4 capacitors, 2 ICs and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Modular LED Wall Tiles powered by CH32V006 RISC-V slaves.

A modular 5×5 WS2812B LED tile driven by a CH32V003 slave MCU. Tiles share a simple 8-bit parallel bus + CLK + EN so a Raspberry Pi (or any MCU) can address many tiles and push pixel data quickly.

- 25× WS2812B per tile (5 rows × 5 columns), daisy-chained on-board - Parallel control bus: DATA0…DATA7, CLK, EN, optional RST - MCU: WCH CH32V003F… (RISC-V, 3.3 V) - Power: 5 V input for LEDs; onboard AMS1117-3.3 LDO for the MCU - Connectors on four edges for tiling/rotation; pass-through for power & bus - Status LED on a GPIO for quick diagnostics - Designed with KiCad 9.0.3

Wall: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wall use?

The Wall is built around the CH32V003FxPx, from the RISC-V family.

How big is the Wall PCB?

The Wall measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wall?

39 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wall design files?

From the rmingon/led-wall repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wall design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rmingon. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Wall without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RISC-V firmware against it before you order a PCB.
