About the Sduino mb PCB

Sduino mb is an open source STM32 PCB design by roybaer, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 101.6 × 53.3 mm, with 48 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM8S208MBT6B, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-5.0_SOT223, NCP1117-3.3_SOT223, CH340G and LM358. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 5 ICs, 5 crystals, 4 LEDs, 3 connectors and 3 resistors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

A development board with STM8S208MB MCU in Arduino MEGA form factor

The sduino MB is an attempt at creating a mechanically and electrically Arduino-MEGA-compatible development board based on the STM8S208MB microcontroller. Both, mechanical and electrical design are to a notable degree based on the Arduino MEGA board.

See pin mapping documentation for details.

The following paragraphs highlight the most important differences between Arduino MEGA and sduino MB.

Sduino mb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sduino mb use?

The Sduino mb is built around the STM8S208MBT6B, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Sduino mb PCB?

The Sduino mb measures 101.6 × 53.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sduino mb?

48 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sduino mb design files?

From the roybaer/sduino_mb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sduino mb design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with roybaer. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Sduino mb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
