From the project

A replacement module for OSK103/OSK105 based on ESP8266 & esphome

This is basically a my version of Sergey's IoT-Uni-Dongle . I have created this for my Rotenso branded A/C (and any other A/C that take OSK103 or newer OSK105 wifi module).

E.g.: for hackers that got into manufacturer servers would be then simple to remotely upload firmware that would create encrypted tunnel from their server to inside my home network. Well, someone can say this won't happen, but I in last year, I read about chinese server hacked and that company stayed quiet about it, until stolen data made into black market and started popping up everywhere...

Rotenso wifi mod v2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rotenso wifi mod v2 use?

The Rotenso wifi mod v2 is built around the ESP8266_ESP-12E, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Rotenso wifi mod v2 PCB?

The Rotenso wifi mod v2 measures 40 × 22 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rotenso wifi mod v2?

44 components, from 27 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rotenso wifi mod v2 design files?

From the saper-2/esp8266-osk103 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rotenso wifi mod v2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with saper-2. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rotenso wifi mod v2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
