About the SAPPTEK-HackPad PCB

SAPPTEK-HackPad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Sappling-Chores, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.9 × 68.4 mm, with 35 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 11 switches, 11 LEDs, 11 diodes and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a Cyberpunk Themed HackPad Containing 11 programmable keys controlled Using XIAO RP2040 DIP.

Note* I am using qmk firmware, although I have just started to learn about it.

Note* I will connect the Oled using wire outside the pcb.

Kicad (for pcb and shematics) Fusion 360 (for case designing) * Qmk msys and VS code studio (for firmware.)

SAPPTEK-HackPad: common questions

What microcontroller does the SAPPTEK-HackPad use?

The SAPPTEK-HackPad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the SAPPTEK-HackPad PCB?

The SAPPTEK-HackPad measures 99.9 × 68.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SAPPTEK-HackPad?

35 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SAPPTEK-HackPad design files?

From the Sappling-Chores/SAPPTEK-HackPad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SAPPTEK-HackPad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Sappling-Chores. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SAPPTEK-HackPad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
