About the Esp32 datapad PCB

Esp32 datapad is an open source ESP32 PCB design by sayjionix, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 150 mm, with 51 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the HN1x22, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 21 switches, 20 diodes, 3 connectors, 2 resistors and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository hosts the hardware and firmware source files for an ESP32-based "Datapad", originally designed to be a handheld, keypad-based time-tracker for Jira. It utilizes the Jira REST API to upload tracked activity times.

The main features are: Connect the Datapad with your Atlassian Jira account using the REST API Map up to 16 favorite Jira tasks to the physical keys of the Datapad Tap a key once to start logging your time, tap again to stop logging and transfer the time to Jira Seamlessly switch over from logging on one task to another Manually enter spent time to book to your task Supports configuration of 2 WiFis to use the Datapad at two locations, e.g. at home and at workplace NTP-based time synchronization Use the Datapad as a development platform for your own keypad projects

Esp32 datapad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esp32 datapad use?

The Esp32 datapad is built around the HN1x22, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Esp32 datapad PCB?

The Esp32 datapad measures 80 × 150 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esp32 datapad?

51 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esp32 datapad design files?

From the sayjionix/esp32_datapad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esp32 datapad design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which sayjionix chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Esp32 datapad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
