About the Pm6V PCB

Pm6V is an open source PCB design by scular-HCC, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 160 × 100 mm, with 64 components from 31 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LM4051AIM3-ADJ/NOPB. By type, the board carries 22 resistors, 20 capacitors, 8 transistors, 5 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

Dual laster Pound-Dreaver-Hall driver setup. 1550 nm DFBs. Q=10^-5. Less than 20 GHz difference

A precision two-channel controller for 1550 nm DFB butterfly lasers — a differential optical thermometer built as a 3U Eurocard instrument.

Each channel provides low-noise constant-current laser drive, a bipolar linear TEC temperature controller, RF frequency modulation, and a synchronous-demodulation Pound–Drever–Hall lock that holds the laser to the side of an optical resonance. Lasers A and B lock to their own fringe of a shared reference cavity; the beat frequency between them, Δν = S·(TB − TA) with S ≈ 2 GHz/K, is a ratiometric measurement in which slow common-mode drift cancels.

Pm6V: common questions

How big is the Pm6V PCB?

The Pm6V measures 160 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pm6V?

64 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pm6V design files?

From the scular-HCC/DualLaserPDHDriver repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pm6V design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
