About the HBridge PCB
HBridge is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by serpentsniper, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 74 × 55.8 mm, with 59 components from 16 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the IR2104 and MCP6001-OT. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 15 capacitors, 8 transistors, 6 ICs, 4 diodes and 1 module.
It belongs with the robotics & motion and test & measurement designs in this gallery.
From the project
Two-channel brushed DC motor driver in KiCad. Discrete IRLZ44N H-bridges, IR2104 gate drivers, per-channel current sense and quadrature encoder inputs, on a 74 x 56 mm board with a Raspberry Pi Pico.
A two-channel brushed DC motor driver on a 74.00 x 55.75 mm two-layer board, built around a Raspberry Pi Pico. Each channel is a full H-bridge of logic-level MOSFETs with its own current sense, quadrature encoder header, and gate drivers. Designed in KiCad 10.
Off-the-shelf driver modules hide the parts that matter. The L298N wastes about 2 V across its bipolar output stage, gives you no current feedback, and no encoder path, so you cannot close a velocity loop or detect a stall. This board replaces the module with discrete MOSFETs, adds a shunt and an amplifier per channel, and brings the…

HBridge: common questions
What microcontroller does the HBridge use?
The HBridge is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the HBridge PCB?
The HBridge measures 74 × 55.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the HBridge?
59 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the HBridge design files?
From the serpentsniper/hbridge-motor-driver repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the HBridge design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which serpentsniper chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the HBridge without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
