About the Rpi pico debugger shoe PCB

Rpi pico debugger shoe is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ShawnHymel, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 25.4 × 54.5 mm, with 40 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the AP2112K-3.3TRG1 and W25Q16JVSSIQ. By type, the board carries 16 capacitors, 9 resistors, 8 connectors, 3 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Stackable debugger board for the Raspberry Pi Pico. Solder long headers to this debugger board in order to connect the Pico to it. You will also need to connect jumper wires from the bottom CLK, GND, DIO pins to the target pico.

All design files were created using KiCad v5.1.

Feel free to modify this design for your own applciation. This PCB is intended to be a project for testing the layout of the Raspberry Pi RP2040.

Rpi pico debugger shoe: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rpi pico debugger shoe use?

The Rpi pico debugger shoe is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rpi pico debugger shoe PCB?

The Rpi pico debugger shoe measures 25.4 × 54.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rpi pico debugger shoe?

40 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rpi pico debugger shoe design files?

From the ShawnHymel/rpi-pico-debugger-shoe repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rpi pico debugger shoe design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ShawnHymel. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rpi pico debugger shoe without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
