About the Tinyfs PCB

Tinyfs is an open source PCB design by sittner, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 69.9 × 96.1 mm, with 37 components from 23 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74HCT32, 74HCT00, 74HCT04, 74HCT163 and 74HCT165. By type, the board carries 12 ICs, 12 capacitors, 5 resistors, 3 jumpers, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

From the project

TinyFS is a minimalist filesystem designed for extremely constrained embedded systems. The initial reason to create this project was the attempt to build a filesystem that can run on a ZX81 without any additional processors (e.g. an ATMEGA for FAT32 support).

In fact, this was a little bit challenging, because I wanted to use 32k RAM and 32k ROM and due to the architecture of the ZX video system only the lower 16k of ROM is useable for executable code. 8k of that is already used by the original OS, so the code for the FS has to fit into the remaining 8k block. Fortunately the upper 16k is…

Tinyfs: common questions

How big is the Tinyfs PCB?

The Tinyfs measures 69.9 × 96.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tinyfs?

37 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tinyfs design files?

From the sittner/tinyfs repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tinyfs design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which sittner chose for the repository.
