About the Mobile-Whip PCB

Mobile-Whip is an open source PCB design by skuep, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 200 × 22 mm, with 52 components from 33 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LTC6268IS6, TP4054, LP2985-3.3 and TLV431. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 11 capacitors, 6 diodes, 4 ICs, 4 inductors and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the power & battery and rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

A Mini-Whip clone capable of lower supply voltages or battery powered

- Operates on a single lithium cell, 5V USB Supply, 4.0V RTL-SDR V4 Bias-Tee or 12V-15V Mini-Whip Bias-Tee - Includes lithium battery charger - Uses a LTC6268 ultra-low input capacitance OPAMP instead of JFET input - Requires only 20mA (instead of roughly 50mA) - (Probably) Has better large signal interferer resiliency (causing intermodulation) so it might perform better indoors - Designed for 0.1MHz to 30MHz, but works reasonably well also for listening on FM Radio (100MHz) and VHF bands (150MHz) - Can be easily mounted on a HT (such as the UV-K5 with HF mod) or mobile scanner and is thus…

Mobile-Whip: common questions

How big is the Mobile-Whip PCB?

The Mobile-Whip measures 200 × 22 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mobile-Whip?

52 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mobile-Whip design files?

From the skuep/Mobile-Whip repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mobile-Whip design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which skuep chose for the repository.
