About the RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light PCB

RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by Slush-Code, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a board, with 11 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the WeMos_D1_mini, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the 74AHCT125 and LM2596S. By type, the board carries 2 ICs, 2 connectors, 2 resistors, 1 module, 1 transistor and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is how I made a RGB fire exit light

All the supplies I used: |Parts list| |--| |Fire light| |12V 2A power supply| |Barrel jack socket| |Buck converter| |12V ledstrip WS2811S 1 meter (39 3/8 Inch)| |Wemos D1 Mini ESP8266| |0.5A 30V Polyfuse| |100n capacitator| |SN74AHCT125N quadruple 3-state buffers| |IRLML2502 logic-level power MOSFET 20V 3.6A|

First I removed all of the old electronics.

Set the buck converter module output to 5V.

RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light: common questions

What microcontroller does the RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light use?

The RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light is built around the WeMos_D1_mini, from the ESP8266 family.

How many components are on the RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light?

11 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light design files?

From the Slush-Code/RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which Slush-Code chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the RGB-LED-Fire-Exit-Light without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
