About the Pommepad PCB

Pommepad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by spdidle, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 95 × 90 mm, with 20 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the OLED_0.91_128x32. By type, the board carries 12 diodes, 6 switches and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

a pomme which might also be a pad making it a pommepad

The pommepad is an apple-shaped macropad featuring 6 programmable keys, per-key RGB LEDs, and an OLED display. It's cute, it's functional, and it's shaped like an apple !! 🍎

My fingers always hurt. I spend way too long scrolling, gaming, and doing repetitive gestures on my tiny trackpad throughout the day, and it was starting to take a toll on my poor fingers. I wanted something small and cute that could sit next to my keyboard and handle the shortcuts and actions I use most, like pg dn & up, tab switching, clicking, or anything so my hands get a break.

Pommepad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pommepad use?

The Pommepad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Pommepad PCB?

The Pommepad measures 95 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pommepad?

20 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pommepad design files?

From the spdidle/pommepad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pommepad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with spdidle. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Pommepad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
