About the SDA-Wonder System Board

SDA-Wonder System Board is an open source STM32 PCB design by stanislavbrtna, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61.5 × 105.3 mm, with 86 components from 49 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F407VGT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MCP73831, FT230XS-R, NCP1529, TLV431 and USBLC6. By type, the board carries 30 capacitors, 24 resistors, 9 ICs, 8 switches, 6 connectors and 3 diodes.

From the project

Hardware part of the SDA Project.

1. SD card slot casing is not grounded on the pcb, sd card insertion detection doesn't work because of it. This can be fixed by scraping off the protective mask near the pin and bridging ground and shielding with a bit of solder. 2. Pads for battery connector are too small and can be ripped out of place when device falls form sufficient height. This is sort-of fixed with second revision of the case by giving the battery better support. 3. The stacked PCBs are a point of failure, stress is built up in the connecting pins during soldering. This stress can break the contacts after few years of…

SDA-Wonder System Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the SDA-Wonder System Board use?

The SDA-Wonder System Board is built around the STM32F407VGT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the SDA-Wonder System Board?

The SDA-Wonder System Board measures 61.5 × 105.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SDA-Wonder System Board?

86 components, from 49 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SDA-Wonder System Board design files?

From the stanislavbrtna/SDA_Wonder_HW repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SDA-Wonder System Board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with stanislavbrtna. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SDA-Wonder System Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
