About the VectorSplitK PCB

VectorSplitK is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by SunritHazra, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 252 × 102.5 mm, with 90 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-nRF52840-SMD, from the Nordic nRF family. By type, the board carries 42 switches, 42 diodes, 4 resistors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A wireless high-profile 42 key mechanical split keyboard based on Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840.

An open-source, wireless, high-profile 42-key mechanical split keyboard. Built around the powerful Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840, the VectorSplitK features an aggressive columnar stagger, custom-modeled flat profile keycaps, and a robust dual-case mechanical assembly. This project is my first split keyboard. The PCB was made entirely in KiCad and the CAD was done in Autodesk Fusion.

VectorSplitK: common questions

What microcontroller does the VectorSplitK use?

The VectorSplitK is built around the XIAO-nRF52840-SMD, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the VectorSplitK PCB?

The VectorSplitK measures 252 × 102.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the VectorSplitK?

90 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the VectorSplitK design files?

From the SunritHazra/VectorSplitK repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the VectorSplitK design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which SunritHazra chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the VectorSplitK without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
