About the NEMESIS PCB

NEMESIS is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by svdrecbd, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 97 × 55 mm, with 68 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2350A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117ST33T3G, W25Q128JVSIQ, AP63205WU-7 and DRV8461SPWPR. By type, the board carries 32 capacitors, 16 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 2 switches.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

NEMESIS (Non-periodic Event Monitoring & Evaluation of Stimulus-Induced States). A desktop app for Stentor habituation: live USB-microscope preview, Arduino stepper taps (Periodic/Poisson, seedable), independent MP4 recording, CSV v1.0 logging + run.json, and plotting for fast, reproducible analysis.

This directory contains the first electrically connected UNIT1 board design. It is a real KiCad hierarchy, not a wiring sketch. The RP2350A core comes from Raspberry Pi's official minimal reference; the second sheet adds the protected 12 V input, 5 V supply, DRV8461 motor stage, safe boot defaults, and the motor connector used by the firmware.

Status: R1-LAYOUT physical-design checkpoint; not released for fabrication. The PCB now has the full UNIT1 outline, mounting holes, barrel input, USB, RP2350A core, protected power stage, DRV8461, right-angle motor header, four copper layers…

NEMESIS: common questions

What microcontroller does the NEMESIS use?

The NEMESIS is built around the RP2350A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the NEMESIS PCB?

The NEMESIS measures 97 × 55 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the NEMESIS?

68 components, from 40 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the NEMESIS design files?

From the svdrecbd/NEMESIS repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the NEMESIS design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which svdrecbd chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the NEMESIS without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
